"Are You Struggling Following A Traumatic Birth Experience In Colorado Springs, CO Area? Have You Tried Everything To Heal From The Pain, Anxiety or Overwhelm, But Feel Let Down?"
Don’t sacrifice the lifestyle you desire over problems that can be fixed.

A Message From Justine Calderwood, Owner & Founder of The Healing Spot Physical Therapy
- Are you worried about a long or difficult birth that left you feeling overwhelmed and “unlike yourself” that doesn’t go away no matter how many massages you get or how much breathing and meditation you do?
- Are you frustrated that time has gone by and you’re still feeling anxious, let down, guilty or “like a failure” from your birth experience?
- Are you having trouble staying focused on your day-to-day things and taking care of your family and feel like you’re missing out on the joy of life?
- Are you still looking for peace and calm but feel like things are just all “out of sorts” and you don’t know where to turn or who can help you?
- Is your body feeling painful and like it just can’t quite heal on its own, even though it’s been awhile since you gave birth?
- “Time will heal” (then months, or even years later, they’re still suffering…)
- “Your baby is okay, so everything is fine”
- You NEEDED a C-Section (or “we did everything we could”...)
- Nothing. This is reeeeallllyyyy hard because if it’s your first birth and you “don’t have anything to compare it to” you may be left feeling guilty or disappointed and like you have NO ONE to talk to about it. You just know you don’t feel like yourself and yet you aren’t feeling joyful about your birth experience, either.
- To take some pills. “maybe you just need something to help you adjust to being a mom”…”this will go away”
- Insensitive things like “at least you can have more children”
- Counseling and talking about it is the only option (even though just the thought of TALKING about it makes you teary or panicky…)
The Truth Is...
- Time itself doesn’t heal trauma.
- Trauma can look and feel different to different people. There can be layers of trauma and it can feel overwhelming at times.
- We talk about “Big Trauma” and “Little Trauma” here at The Healing Spot; some women talk themselves out of admitting that their experience was traumatic because it “wasn’t as bad as XXX’s birth”.
- People respond to traumatic birth experiences differently and it can affect women differently based on prior life experiences.
- Not all physical therapists are equipped to help women heal from traumatic birth experiences.
- Counseling + Bodywork is the most effective approach to help you heal from a traumatic birth experience (and we have some great referral partners if you need help finding someone!)
"We Help Individuals Overcome Pelvic Floor Issues, And Heal Bowel & Bladder Conditions So They Can Be Active and Pain Free Again, Regardless of How Long It's Been"
- A family member tells you to enjoy being a mom and be glad you can have kids
- A colleague mentions going to a massage therapist
- The “experts” on YouTube recommend breathing and meditation
- A friend suggests going to a counselor
- All while the doctor tells you your birth went the best it could (leaving you confused about how YOU feel….)
It’s overwhelming to try to make a decision with all these choices… what will happen if you don’t make the right one?
Most people get stuck trying to make a decision about what to do next. They go days, weeks, months (even years!) without taking action.
When It Comes To Solving Something Serious Like Birth Trauma…
You must choose the right provider for your health and well being. If you don’t, you could end up feeling stuck and not knowing where to turn or who to ask for help, or being dependent on pills the rest of your life (that don’t do anything but mask the underlying hurt).
Getting the “least-invasive”, most natural treatment is VITAL to you feeling whole again and being able to take care of yourself and your family like you want to.
To do that, you have to not just treat the pain, but have a provider who is willing to hold space for healing for you, to help you process big emotions and listen to your story and guide you through the steps to HEAL from it so you can feel peaceful, calm and ENJOY your life once again. That’s when you’ll get a PERMANENT solution to your pain.
At The Healing Spot Physical Therapy we’ve created a 3 step process to help you heal from Birth Trauma AND make sure you feel the best you can moving forward.
Step #1 - We Want To Listen To Your Story
Step #2 - Find Out How Bad Things Are and Create a Safe Healing Space for You
Many people have a diagnosis, or medical term for what’s going on with their body. Birth Trauma can be difficult to diagnose; it takes a special provider to be able to recognize it and then willingness to work as a team to help you resolve it. Maybe your doctor gave the diagnosis to you, maybe a questionnaire revealed it, or maybe you found an answer online.
You could have been told that your only choice was to let time pass, rest, take pills, or talk to someone about it.
Sometimes, those things bring temporary relief, but they don’t always address what CAUSED the feelings of trauma in the first place.
Every woman’s cause of Birth Trauma is different. No one has the exact same story caused by the exact same events or has the exact same response as another person.
Our goal at The Healing Spot Physical Therapy is to help your body release the trauma response and allow your body and mind to feel safe and calm once again. The mind-body complex can store trauma in the form of a “Fight”, “Flight” or a “Freeze” response for months or years (well, indefinitely, to tell you the truth….) and our goal is to help you release this hold on your mind-body complex so you can let it go and begin to live in the here-and-now.
We understand that you still might be skeptical or unsure if this form of therapy is right for you. That’s why we created a free taster session. (Yes! That means the first session is ON US!)
Our Discovery Sessions are meant specifically for those people who are skeptical, unsure, or have even been let down in the past. During the Discovery Session you’ll find out what’s wrong, how we can help you, and give you peace of mind that your trauma can be healed naturally!
Step #3 - Get Rid Of The Trauma and The Pain & Keep It From Coming Back
This is when the big transformations occur. We develop a personalized plan that allows you to…
…Get back to living your life; taking care of yourself and your family without anxiety, fear and overwhelming feelings
…Be able to focus and concentrate on the things you love, including things at home and work, and feel in control once again
…Feel calm and centered and grounded and living your best life, knowing you did the best you could during your birth
Our best clients are those who are motivated and ready to win back their active and happy lifestyle. (Even if they feel stuck right now!)

STEP #4 GET BACK TO YOUR EXERCISE SAFELY AND CONFIDENTLY AFTER HAVING A BABY
Not sure you’re ready for exercise?
Let us help you determine if you’re at High Risk, Low Risk or No Risk for injury or common postpartum issues with an assessment with one of our Specialist Physical Therapists.
You’ll learn exactly how ready you are to begin working out.
You don’t have to sacrifice the activities or relationships you love over trauma and overwhelming experiences that can be healed.
Sincerely,
Justine Calderwood

“My girl was nearly 11 pounds when she was born, which did quite the number on my body! Two months after birth, I was unable to walk or do much of anything without being in pain. I wanted to be able to carry my girl around, wear her, pick her up without feeling weak, and do normal life things without pain and feeling like my insides were going to fall out.
Sarah H.
““I had an 11 pound, 24-inch long baby girl in September 2018. I labored for five days before I gave birth at home to my giant child. Postpartum felt like I had been ran over by a big rig truck and dragged 100 miles down the freeway. During pregnancy, I tried to do as much research possible to prepare myself for the postpartum period, often called the fourth trimester. But as most moms tell first-time moms, there’s not much you can actually prepare for.”
