If you’ve had a C-section birth, are you experiencing discomfort from your scar?

You’re not alone, and we’re here to help!

Many women face pain, tightness, or a pulling sensation around their scar even months or years after surgery. This is often due to scar tissue building up and sticking to muscles or organs, causing discomfort that can manifest in surprising ways.

Common Symptoms of C-Section Scar Pain

Some common symptoms our patients report include:

  • Tightness or pinching around the scar
  • A burning sensation or nerve pain at the site
  • Discomfort touching the abdominal area or scar
  • Pain when wearing certain clothes or during movements like twisting or lifting
  • Sharp pain in the lower abdomen, especially with bowel movements or carrying a child
  • Feeling a catching sensation or sharp pain with certain movements like rolling in bed

C-section scar tissue can also lead to hip, lower back, or even shoulder pain, as well as changes in bladder and bowel function. It can even affect intimacy—sometimes years after the surgery.
