Don’t Take It Personally

Don’t Take It Personally

by Justine Calderwood, MSPT
This stings. When you feel less than worthy, unimportant, un-loved, criticized, ridiculed or unsupported through your interactions with others, do you question yourself? Do you take it personally? What if it’s how the person feels about themselves and it’s got NOTHING to do with you? Maybe perhaps it would be easier to remain loving and kind toward yourself.

I learned about not taking things personally through Miguel Ruiz’s book The Four Agreements.  It’s a paradigm shift to learn this agreement and begin to use it in your daily life.  Adopting this “rule” may save you needless suffering in life, too.

This week I saw the hurtful video of Keaton Jones that his mother posted on Facebook. Do you know the one I’m talking about?

If not, you can watch it here.

It’s a visual reminder of how harsh and cruel people can be to one another. There’s nothing wrong with Keaton. He’s a beautiful, perfectly made, middle-school boy who was bullied at school.

He’s worthy. He’s important. He’s loved.

And so are you.

But if you’re struggling to BELIEVE this, maybe I can help. I specialize in helping people with chronic, unresolved, and complex pain feel better.

Heartache from emotional or physical abuse, even if it happened a LONG time ago, can show up as physical pain. Got a headache? Suffer from low back pain? How about migraines? Pelvic Pain? Irritable Bowel Syndrome? Anxiety? Depression?

Your body remembers. Even if you’ve “dealt with it” by talking it out. I can help you release the pain and let it go.

I give women and men tools to help themselves. I do this through gentle, hands-on treatment in a private setting. I hold the space needed to heal. I help to balance the mind-body complex.

Are you ready to heal? If so, come….take my hand. I want to help you.
