Maybe you’re sitting down to have a cup of coffee this morning or you already enjoyed a cup or two.

Did you know that for some people coffee can irritate their bladder and make them feel a sudden urge to have to go? Or cause them to have to go more often?

Worse yet, for some people, coffee causes a little bit of leaking of the bladder. Or even pain.

Coffee: A Bladder Irritant

Yes, unfortunately, coffee can be a bladder irritant. And if you didn’t know that, you may be consuming something that you love without having any idea that it might be the cause of your leaking, urinary frequency, urgency, or bladder pain (which might show up as lower abdominal pain or soreness).

The only way to really know if this is the case for you is to pay attention to your symptoms in relation to when you consume coffee.

More Than Just Coffee

And, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but coffee isn’t the only bladder irritant that’s out there! I made a quick video (3 min) on some common beverages and foods that can be bladder irritants. Now, you might have one or several that are causing you some issues, but likely you won’t have to eliminate them all!
