When it comes to bladder health, you might have a few lingering questions:
- How often should you pee during the day?
- How long should it take?
- Is waking up multiple times a night to pee normal?
Let’s take a closer look at what’s considered “normal bladder health” and what you can do if your bladder isn’t following these guidelines.
What’s “Normal” for Bladder Health?
Here’s a quick checklist for a healthy bladder:
✅ Peeing 6-8 times in a 24-hour period.
✅ Urinating every 2-4 hours (you should be able to wait at least two hours between bathroom breaks).
✅ Being able to sleep through the night without getting up to urinate (unless you’re over 65 years old, pregnant or have a medical condition that causes frequent urination)
✅ Being able to get to the toilet without leaking—every time.
If you’re falling outside these guidelines, you’re not alone. Many people struggle with bladder control issues, but that doesn’t mean you have to just accept it.
Signs You Might Need Help
If any of the following applies to you, I have just the thing to offer you.
- You notice urinary leaking when your bladder gets full, when working out or at random times that you can’t even predict
- You aren’t able to sleep through the night without having to get up to urinate and you’re losing sleep
- You’re unable to hold your pee for 2 hours or more and feel like you HAVE to get to the bathroom all.the.time (at concerts, on a plane, at home, running errands…) and your bladder has become the BOSS OF YOUR LIFE….
- You can’t completely empty your bladder and you feel like you have to go again, even though you just went.
- You are worried that things will get worse if you continue to wait for it to get better on it’s own. What will things be like when you are your mom’s age?!?!
If any of these resonate with you, it’s time to take back control.

5 Life-Changing and Surprisingly Easy Tips To Fix An Overactive Bladder, Dribbling After Peeing, And Embarrassing Leaks

The Truth About Kegels
For years, people have been told that bladder issues can be solved with a few Kegels. Unfortunately, it’s rarely that simple.
If you’ve been doing Kegels and still experiencing:
- Overactive bladder symptoms, like feeling the urge to pee constantly
- Embarrassing leaks when you cough, sneeze, laugh, or run.
- Dribbling after peeing
- Difficulty emptying your bladder completely
It’s not your fault. Your doctor may not have had the full picture when they recommended Kegels, and there’s so much more to improving bladder health.
